Re: Avatar
Doesn't look interesting.
My trouble is that the director seems to have his head stuck up his ass. Hollywood doesn't produce masterpiece films these days.
It'll all boil down to empty hype eventually.

but cameron has the most flawless action movie pedigree imaginable.
(it's a well established fact that terminator 2 and aliens are the two greatest action movies of all time)

Right, but the premise of the entire movie is fucking stupid.

Re: Avatar
i don't think anyone commented on how brilliant the plot was but to blow off the amazing animation is a bit much, I think. I myself am not super excited about seeing it, but I have to admit it looks fantastic.

Yeah, but that's the kind of reasoning that is responsible for shit cinema like Transformers.
I don't think anyone said the CGI looks bad, but some of us don't go to the theater to see explosions and imagery.

Re: Avatar
well you said there's absolutely nothing interesting about it, so i just assumed you meant everything about the movie. I can appreciate the special effects of transformers series without actually liking the movie itself. This is why people still enjoy art.

Re: Avatar
true that skoo'. if nothing else i want to see this movie for the 3D and the lush greenery. i'm not a big movie critic, and i've not seen a lot of action films at all that i can compare this with. so i'll probably love the movie for what it is.

i dont know, cameron makes some pretty smart action movies. high-brow? no, but light-years ahead of transformers.

I was just saying his reasoning was shit - not that Avatar would follow suit with Transformers.

Re: Avatar
I haven't been paying much attention to this one. It seems like... Humans just want to kill the inhabitants of the planet to colonize? Ok, I just read a plot synopsis right now; villian wants the planets resources. I'm not happy with being chided along to support the alien race over the human race over something as easy as "blargh I'm an evil human let's kill them all so I can mine the planet dry". I'm sure the romance will be done well and all but the reasoning behind all the war carnage isn't particularly interesting to me.
