[i]Once[/i] is a wonderfully low-budget Irish indie movie I watched over the summer. It's a musical, of sorts, but in the most naturalistic way possible. Anyone who likes The Frames might be interested to know that frontman Glen Hansard wrote most of the songs, and also plays the lead role. A devastatingly simple love story runs through the film, one eventually lost irretrievably in the shadows of passionate silence, frustration, humor, and piano-accompanied acoustic guitar music.
Apparently, as I'm just now reading up on it, it won an Academy Award, so maybe more people know of it here than I'm guessing...
