I really thought as far as superhero movie franchises go Iron Man had the strongest first movie.

Re: Iron Man One of the best movies of the year so far, and one of the best superhero movies ever. We'll see how it compares to The Dark Knight and The Incredible Hulk later this year.

Same here. Of course, building our [i]own[/i] super powers is certainly a better idea than waiting for radioactive accidents or genealogical inheritance to kick in, but what really made it enjoyable for me was Tony Stark's charmingly foolish intelligence.
Not to mention it had bigger explosions than I've seen in a while.
