I don't care if this whole flick defied all physics! I was immensely entertained with it all. Paul Giamatti is one of the best villains in recent history.

Totally want to see this. Also, Shaolin Soccer. I have to rent it, I've never seen it, but I loved KFH.

I recall someone saying Shoot Em' Up is what Crank would of been if it didn't suck, but I don't know, I liked Crank. I hate it when people say such stupid things.
In Shoot 'Em Up, Paul Giamatti has some of the worst lines in the recent history of film.
Really, I'm not terribly against movies that are made just for 100% action at all costs (usually script, story cohesion, acting, etc).

But Shoot 'Em Up was really just...really fucking abhorrent. Really. I mean, in an interview, the director said that one of the most difficult parts about the movie's creation was when they had to create a rationalization for WHY bad guys wanted the baby.

If a sex scene in a movie has you rolling your eyes, you know it's a bad movie.

is it really an insane string of action? I was dissapointed in Crank. It said it would be an adrenaline rushing ride from begining to end but the action was broken up. I was dissapointed.

I look forward to checking out an action movie that isnt defiled by trying to develope a dramatic storyline.

I want my 80's action flicks back with simple plots but rediculous action...

This is the most insane, brilliant action flick in ages. You will not be disappointed (unless you are the most boring person on the planet!!!!!).

Don't be a fuddy-duddy, like SOME PEOPLE. Go ahead and spend your hard earned money on a ticket to see this manly man-fest of a courageous man doing things the manly-man's way.

:3 LIEK SHOOTAN UMBILICAL CORDS

I will say the plot sounds/probably is/definitely is completely retarded. Completely. BUT... I'd like to give it a shot. I haven't seen a movie in theaters since TMNT, it could be fun.

...

Scratch that, my theater isn't playing it. Instead, I think I'll see Superbad on Saturday. 8)

You're thinking incorrectly. Just because Shoot 'Em Up is an over-the-top action movie for the sake of being over-the-top doesn't necessarily mean it's good.

It's like saying "I like romance movies", and then seeing a movie that's 100% kissing, hugging, and flirting. In order to have an actually satisfying experience, there have to be some other redeeming qualities to the movie.

In this case, a good all-out action movie SHOULD include the following:
Mediocre acting.
Some witty quips.
A plot that half makes sense.
A character people care about (not just some no-name anti-hero for the same of having one)
Some new twists.
No. Fucking. Gimmicks. (I point to the whole Bugs Bunny gag in Shoot 'Em Up. It's like raping Tex Avery in his grave)

Shoot 'Em Up doesn't contain any of these.
This will appeal to the same people who have Fast and the Furious 3: Tokyo Drift on their "Favorite movies of all time" list, because "it had fucken tight cars in it and hot chicks"

Superbad is superior.

Oh, I can already tell that Superbad is superior. The guys behind me in math class quote it constantly, and I'm laughing along without even understanding the source material.

I like to give everything a chance for myself. For the most part, it was only a little bit of interest. It's not like I'd be willing to go to Clarion just to watch a movie I was only a bit interested in. Since it's not in my theater, I've quite easily moved on.
You're thinking incorrectly.
Thanks for trying to save me $5.50, but really now. :eh:

It's ok that you don't like it. The entirety of your post was useful, as a first-hand witness to the movie. But that line really jumps out, here. I don't appreciate this being directed at me in such a manner, as I certainly didn't need to have what makes a good movie explained to me out of the blue like that. Please don't put thoughts in my head that I haven't thunk'n thoughted. (now I am thinking incorrectly :))
Just because Shoot 'Em Up is an over-the-top action movie for the sake of being over-the-top doesn't necessarily mean it's good.
Did I ever say that? Did I hint at believing that? Please don't assume so little of me! :( I only felt it might be fun to see. I only implied that I would, "give it a shot." That's all it was. I certainly wouldn't attempt to argue against that thought, so I'm confused as to why you would assume that I had that mentality. I shouldn't have to feel as though I must defend myself for something as silly as seeing a movie in theaters. I feel you've read too far into my posts on this topic, which were mostly just goofing.

Oh, and I saw Tokyo Drift, my dad rented it. That was the most accurate portrayal of Japan I've ever seen in my entire life. EVER.

Sorry, I didn't mean for my little remarks to be taken so literally. "Thinking incorrectly" would be wrong, because this whole subject is subjective.

Omnistry - websites are not like friends. You can't bond over mutual association.

"Hey, I was talking with my friend Google the other day, about..."

"Wait, you know Google too!? No way! We're, like, best mates!"

"Awesome, maybe the three of us can chill sometime!"

Ahhh, so Mr. Shart is one of those teachers who can teach several different classes. I LOL'd IRL at the above because I like English class, and I picked up on it as well.

Thank you, Blank. A fantastic film, although I feel the cop characters didn't do the best they could to make it seem as though they weren't acting. The buffonery was great from them as a piece of the plot, but their performance seemed a bit too acted out. Everyone else did an excellent job, and I enjoyed it very much. My cheeks! They sting! :D

GR, you're fine. It's me... :(

...I think...I know... I sometimes fail to allow others to make a mistake. The good intent in others becomes clouded, then morphs into some kind of arrogant blob of text, which baits me to try to "defend myself."

...The correct answer was, "Yes, I agree that a good action flick should have at least those elements." followed by an example, let's say, Air Force One. "GET OFF MY PLANE!" Just badassery all around in that movie.

Thinking back on the week in general, I've been snapping a lot at others for reasons extremely similar to this, which is pathetic. I'm done with it. I don't know why I sometimes feel as though everyone is out to get me, but I'm done. I'm not a jerk, and I won't be decieved again.

Unless you want to go, because if that's the case, IT'S ON.
