*Spoilers*
omgomgomg. nekkid Daniel Craig = teh HAWT. but seriously.. I have NEVER seen such a body. =]
I thought the movie was written and played out really well. except for the beginning with the guy Bond was chasing to the Embassy - it was pretty cheesy. especially the extremely unrealistic parts such as when the guy is running up a pole or falling perfectly through holes in the wall and when Bond smashed through the wall like it was nothing.. (uh...yea)
For the story, it was great that Bond's crazy humor was put in there and how he was "tamed" by Vesper and M into the Bond figure we know today. But there were fewer gadgets, encounters with the enemy, and dialogue.. really, Bond was just running a whole lot.. one part I didn't get was when Vesper pointed out that he didnt like dressing up.. but doesn't Bond love tuxs and being a suave gentlemen?
My favorite part was when Vesper was kidnapped through the ... scene of 'excruciating pain' to when he said he would give all of himself to her

Some spoilers, and thoughts about the franchise in general.
I'm on the fence about this one. I just saw it tonight, and I thought the new guy did a good job. I was confused about the setting, though. Wasn't the movie supposed to be an explanation of Bond's beginnings? Then why was it set in current time? When M made that, "after 9/11" comment, I went
I liked the beginning, the airport sequence, and the main casino arc, but the movie really crapped out after the torture sequence. The "big finale" was very lackluster, I honestly didn't care at all about what happened to Vespar. Also, there isn't a single car chase sequence. (the airport stuff doesn't count) What you see in the commercials with the car flipping is literally the only thing that happens with Bond driving. I guess they figured they couldn't top the Tomorrow Never Dies and Die Another Day sequences, so they didn't even try.
Huge thumbs up for the opening sequence with the Free Runner, though.
Seriously, though, I'm tired of James Bond. I mean, he's only one of MI-6's operatives. What about the rest of the 00's? How many adventures to save the world can one guy go on? It's just bullshit, I refuse to believe that he is the only capable operative in MI-6. If they would make movies about different operatives, then there wouldn't be any unbelievable timeline issues and discomfort with seeing different actors as the lead. It would open the series' universe exponentially, allowing for different personalities, different styles and methods for successfully dealing with encounters and situations, even the possibility of a female lead role.
Bond is done. He should retire, or be killed. I'm sure 008 has a great story to tell. 0014 as well. What about previous 00's, maybe even the original 001? What have they done? Have they met their demise, or are they still alive and continuing to kick ass? Goldeneye had an awesome take on things because of the presence of Alec Trevelyan, 006. It made you believe that MI-6 had a very capable roster of operatives, and that it was not just "the James Bond show."
00 (insert agent #): Title Of Movie
That's what I want to see.

The movies were originally based off of the ideas from a book series about an agent called 007. I forgot the author. I think that's why they only have used 007. This one sounds like it sucked. My favorites were definitely back in Sean Connery's day lol. Oh well. I guess I just won't go see it.
But yeah, doing stuff with other agents would be taking a nice jump in artistic liberty, but add so much more to the series.

Ian Fleming. I think Albert Brocolli was just in charge of producing the movies.

yeah... this one wasn't that good. >__> not that many of the recent bond movies have been that good. i don't expect a super-awesome plot out of this type of movie, but don't get me lost in the middle. bond on a little honeymoon? seemed totally out of character.
and there was a 006 in goldeneye, i think.

Did anybody else have to cringe a little whenever Craig tried to do to Bond smile/smirk?

Goldeneye was the LAST Bond film I'd watch. I won't even bother with the other Brosnan 007 films.

The other Brosnan films weren't bad. There are many Bond films that are much worse. However, Goldeneye is simply one of the best, even in regard to the entire catelogue. When I think of James Bond, I think of Brosnan in Goldeneye first and foremost.
