Overrated. The only good thing about the Anime is the animation. The music was a let down.

I enjoyed FLCL, but now that I think about it, FLCL was really fucking stupid - I think I watched it exclusively as a vehicle for the music.

I remember watching .hack//Sign on Cartoon Network for the same exact reason. And Cowboy Bebop.

Oh, Cartoon Network occupied my late nights in high school. I really liked Home Movies. Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Sealab. Harvey Birdman - the reason I went to law school.

I'm not sure I remember what happened in any of these shows, but I listen to their music all the time.

Harvey bidman also makes me want to go into law school. I wonder how it would really be like. Or if it's as fun as the show.

For me, FLCL was the stupidest and most random cartoon I have seen. I didn't really get into it that much. But I did get the entire dvd set for Christmas one year and I didn't watch it....that is, until my cable on my tv fucked up. So for about a week, all I did was watch FLCL and try to figure that shit out. I honestly really love it now. It's all about Naota learning to take on life the right way and live it to the fullest.
Lots of hidden messages and each time you watch it, you always notice something different and you're like "woah, now I get it!"

Hahah all because of my cable fucking up!

I loved it, but played it out years ago. When I do decide to watch FLCL (once in a blue moon), the only episode I find worth watching is Marquise de Carabas. Nouveau riche psychopaths really get me going.

THIS SO HARD. When I first chanced upon .hack/sign late at night I immediately noticed the music. I jacked the volume on my tv way the hell up. 12:30 AM blasting dat celtic techno anime show about kids getting physically trapped and harmed by an MMO. lol! I did really enjoy the intrigue and story of the show, but it needed a bit more action and a bit more trimming the fat off of the subplots. Still a good show.

And a funny thing about the games, I have played the first three of the original series but couldn't find a copy of the 4th volume on store shelves. We finally broke down and bought it off the internet. It's been so long I kinda feel like I should just start over; it's not like I wouldn't enjoy fighting Skeith again at the end of disc one. That was killer.
:shred:

And for FLCL, I think the only episode that didn't come together very well was the second one, Firestarter. It may be because I really dislike Mamimi's character and it was essentially the Mamimi centric episode. I'd have to see it again to really describe it though.

1, 3, 4, and 5 were the best episodes, I think. I felt the last episode had an odd pacing problem. And the big conclusion, though cool, ended up seeming inferior to the climaxes of episodes 4 and 5. Those BIG SEQUENCES at the end of 4 and 5 with Crazy Sunshine and Blues Drive Monster put this :whoa: on my face that stayed there for quite a while when I first saw them.

I was just making fun of the thread title...

but yeah FLCL is pretty awesome, I consider it my "coming of age" movie. All kinds of awesome lessons in life in it. Though honestly it hardly has any real moral or theme, but for some reason every time I watch it when I'm in a tough spot in life It helps me gain some perspective on whatever I'm doing.

I liken it to abstract art. It's different to anyone who looks at it and the meanings you find are based on your perspectives and interpretations. Unless you're just one of those people who doesn't know how to interpret abstraction, aka uninspired, boring, or stupid.

I also found out that it is pretty legendary for it's animation. My friend who takes animation classes had an entire unit on FLCL alone. Apparently there are 13 different kinds of animation in it.

There are five of these. Not much is known about the project, but it's extremely exciting news nonetheless.

A while back I saw all this stuff from bloggers who are flat-out pissed at law school and regard its modern incarnation as a scam. Check it out here. I don't claim to be an expert on this but it seems worth investigating for anyone considering going that route.

As for anime, huh... haven't watched anything recently. This summer I went through all the series I thought looked interesting, and that's about it.

I watched East of Eden about two weeks ago and wasn't impressed. I have King of Eden sitting on my HDD still, but haven't watched it yet because apparently I'm a WoW addict.
