But all the anime i've ever seen is so stupid. it's not funny. the music blows (the scored ones, not bands or whatever, but i'm sure a lot of them suck.). it's so annoying when they try to make it funny and it's not and it reminds me of little kids doing things that i hate.
What you're exposed to is a very narrow view of anime. Imagine turning on the television to the Disney channel and judging all American live action TV based on that. What you're doing by assuming that all anime is stupid is similar to that.

To an average anime director, originality is the fine art of remembering "funny" things but forgetting which anime he saw them in.

One could say the same thing about American directors.

I like Miyazaki.
And I liek Beck. I don't know about any of his new stuff, but Loser was a good song.
heh heh heh...
Anyway, I liked FLCL, but that was before it turned cult-ish. Now I'm just sick to my stomach a little. I often question why media has to take away everything I like.

Actually, there are some anime shows that i like. Also, do people here think family guy is bad? I really like that show. I'm not one of the people that first saw it on cartoon network, i watched it on fox when it started. Oh man i just remembered the new season starts tonight.

as soon as napolean dynamite became a fad, i started not liking it. let's face it guys, we are indie. same with flcl, it was okay, until people started obsessing. Perhaps we're wrong for this? or what?

You also can't go through life not liking things when other people start obsessing about it. It just proves that you never truly liked it if you're able to give something up based on that.

yeah, i really hate when you like something, and people make fun of you for it. Then a week later it becomes a fad and you say "hey, i liked this a long time ago" and they'd say "oh yeah so have i" or something like that. I hate liking the same things that become popular, but sometimes i do just because i really like the stuff.

i think it's hating what it's become and not wanting to associate with that crowd.

I tend to be indie about some things, but if I like something enough in the first place, I don't change my opinion because some idiot agrees with me.

It's mathematical. The more popularity/attention something receives, the less credibility/coolness it has.
Than again, if you didn't care what people thought enough to enjoy something when it was unpopular, than the fact that it is now popular shouldn't mater.
