Re: What movies have you watched recently?
I recently watched Frozen and was really disappointed with it. It gets a lot of praise for things other disney movies has done already.
not only that but a lot of the story just doesn't make sense.
- Troll thing tells the chick's parents; "DON"T BE AFRAID OF IT!!!! DON"T HIDE YOUR POWERS DON"T FEAR THEM!" Best way to resolve this? LET"S HIDE HER IN HER ROOM AND HAVE HER STAY QUIET ABOUT HER POWERS!
GREAT!
- LET"S TELL ONE OF THE CHARACTERS THAT SHE CAN"T GET MARRIED TO SOMEONE SHE MET BUT YOU SHOULD FALL IN LOVE WITH THE GUY THAT WANTED TO BE NICE AND DO YOU A FAVOR BECAUSE YOU FALL IN LOVE WITH PEOPLE THAT YOU DO FAVORS TO! FRIENDS WITH THE OPPOSITE SEX? WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?
- Elsa's 'let it go' song was also bad. I"M FINALLY FREE LET"S JUST PRETEND I"M HAPPY AND SING ABOUT ME BEING FREE FROM EVERYONE EVEN THOUGH I"M JUST HIDING MY TRUE FEELINGS.
Seriously, they could have done SO much more with this.
Why did Elsa's parents left her alone even though they knew they had to go far away? Wouldn't one stay / take her with them?
Honestly, that movies got too much praise.
It was 'okay'

Re: What movies have you watched recently?
I... I kind of agree with you.
I'm still trying to figure out why it's so popular. Princess with superpowers, is the best explanation I've seen (Rapunzel's hair power wasn't as cool. PUN INTENDED). Maybe older Disney movies are just as bad. But I feel it gets too much credit for being non-traditional and girl power-ey despite Anna being all boy-crazy at first and the stupid trolls even telling her to get with a guy she barely knows and Elsa basically throwing a big tantrum. It was pretty though and mildly enjoyable as long as I didn't think too hard.
Wreck-it Ralph was more non-traditional. >.>

Just watched the amazing spiderman 2 and it was fucking incredible. Full of raw emotion from start to finish. Loved the directing and as a huge spiderman fan I was very pleased with how it turned out. They are doing the comic book spiderman story justice.

Re: What movies have you watched recently?
I really liked Frozen, honestly. It was very well-made and funny. I'm not foaming at the mouth over it like some people are, but it was gewd. Disney movies aren't really my thing. Even as a kid I couldn't really get into most of them. But this one I liked, for whatever reason.
Watched a few other movies recently. I've been reading Edgar Rice Burroughs' A Princess of Mars, so I went ahead and rented John Carter. It was decent-- much better than I expected, considering the lukewarm reviews and the fact that it bombed at the box office. The original story is better, but it was a good popcorn flick and I'd watch another John Carter film if they made one. /fat chance
Watched The Lone Ranger, too. Johnny Depp as Tonto was probably the most entertaining part. The rest was forgettable. And I watched 47 Ronin. Lol. Don't even get me started. Tadanobu Asano is one of my favorite actors ever, but even his presence couldn't do much to save it.

Re: What movies have you watched recently?
Matilda was on ABC Family, ahahaha Miss Trunchbull is awesome. I really love how nasty some of the digs are that the parents give to Matilda, like not knowing how old she is ("I want to go to school" "You aren't old enough, you're only four" "I'm six and a half!" "GOD DAMNIT MATILDA YOU ARE FOUR!") or asking how school was and then not listening when she responds. A lot of times in kids movies when the actors lay it on thick it comes across corny but they manage to avoid it for the most part, it must be the strength of source material. Every character is dialed up to eleven and about as ruthless as you can possibly get for a PG movie.

I remember enjoying it as a kid and having the opportunity to watch it recently. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it stood up as an entertaining movie in general.

Bad marketing, I think, partly contributed to its failure. It was no worse than your average action popcorn flick.
Ooh, I can get Princess of Mars on Kindle for free.
Ooh, I can get Princess of Mars on Kindle for free.
Yep, and if you enjoy that one they have the seven John Carter novels bundled together for 99 cents right now! I bought it up the other day. My Kindle is way overcrowded with books that need read lol. Also, Terra's new avatar threw me for a loop. Lol. "Who is this new member???" Oh, wait!

I'm a big fan of Burroughs and loved both princess of mars and tarzan of the apes. I saw john carter before reading the book and I really enjoyed it, I thought it was a great sci-fi flick and wanted to see more films like it. After I read the book I knew they did a good job but not great. The books are really well written and of course Disney had to "dumb it down" or "Disnify" it to make it suitable for children so that could be why it was good and not great. Enjoyed the film regardless.

Re: What movies have you watched recently?
Recently watched Tangled!! I'm late to the Disney movies. Anyways, the movie overall was alright. It was really heavily rushed near the end. A lot of plot holes and the inconsistency of Repunzel's hair really kind of ruined it for me. In some scenes her hair is LONG AS FUCK. in another scene, not as long. The fact that the Mom didn't killed those two guys when they were gonna 'hurt' repunzel was ridiculous. How far did they live from the Castle that they made it back there quickly? How did the parent's KNEW that Repunzel was their daughter? No prove? The way Repuzel realizes she's the princess was also stupid. Repunzel's tears magically bringing back a guy to life, lol wut? now she has magical tears? Honestly, so much was just rushed and not explained. Why do people grind on disney's dick over crappy movies like this?

I watched Godzilla and it was as bad as I expected and as good as I hoped it would be.

I really enjoyed it. Godzilla reminded me of my cat, Riley, who is the alpha male of the house.

Re: What movies have you watched recently?
I saw Guardians of the Galaxy last night. I'm pretty surprised no one's mentioned it.
I went in with no real expectations and was definitely surprised at how enjoyable an experience it was. It was really, really well done and I'm really glad there's going to be a sequel.
