This movie is not worth your time, and you should not see it. I will never see it again.

Very little things are actually worth my time, but would you care to elaborate?

Very little things are actually worth my time, but would you care to elaborate?
Well, lets see. To me, the movie is so bad it's depressing. My time could be spent doing something worthwhile. Sure, I'm wasting my time here in front of my computer, but at least I'm not bored.

If you say you like this movie, I almost don't believe you . Almost.

I just watched it, and I'll say that I like it because it's cute and charming. The humor may be too high-brow (or low-brow if you're into a ton of the cop films parodied in the movie). It might not have been Shaun of the Dead quality, but it's a lot better than half the shit Hollywood spews nowadays.

The thing is that it's not really a joke-fest. It could have been trimmed down a bit, but it seemed they wanted to make the town itself be a star as well as the duo. (Good decision) The comic delivery was very peaceful and naturally silly, and throughout the movie, it was an interesting blend of loveably goofy buddy-antics and HOLY SHIT THAT STONE SPIRE JUST DECIMATED THAT NEWSPAPER WRITER moments.

The writer has a good talent for making sad, serious story elements exist in a comedy without cheesing it up. SOTD basically puts comedy on the back-burner for a good bit of the climax. In Hot Fuzz, when he falls into the burial crypt to find all the corpses of the kids and townsfolk, it was a big-time, "HOLY SHIT! How terrible!" that turned into an "OLOLOLOL" when you saw that the "Living Statue" was dead down there, as well.

Like SOTD, it was very gruesome at parts. I'd say they are right at the very edge of what they should do with gruesome content in their movies. If future projects were to contain more gruesome bits then what's been filmed thus far, they may lose a healthy chunk of their mainstream appeal. It only takes one screening for people to go home and tell their friends and children that it was, "too damn nasty."

Very on-pointe, Cloudy, I'm impressed.

S: Yeah, when he does fall into the crypt, it may have crossed the line of gruesomeness for some people, especially noting the rats climbing over the corpses. BUT the Living Statue was OLOLOL because it still looked like he was posing. Also when the dude was first introduced was lol. "1:00, 2:00, 3:00 *same pose*" lolol But it also sucked how that one bomb went off, I think they could've done something better with it. =P

TONS OF SPOILERS!

Well, lets see. I'm pretty sure that this type of response would have gotten you an F in any paper and no reviewer would even bother to listen to you. I liked the film for the variety of humor that the director utilized in the film, but still made it a mystery film rather than just a wholly silly movie.
There is obviously a great deal of shock humor, for instance the scene when he checks into the hotel or when the grocery store manager come up to Angel and threatens him out of the blue.
There was comedy that was foreshadowed earlier in the film, the Point Break instance at the end and the skeletons that Angel found in the catacombs.
The interaction between the two was a brilliant example of a comedy duo. Angel was a hard-ass worker and Danny was a slacker who just wants to have fun. Danny changes him significantly throughout the film like at the end when they are charging through the grocery store and Danny asked Angel if he said anything cool when he beat the big guy. "No, but earlier I said 'Playtime's over!' when I was distracting him with a toy." "Off the chain!!!" Pure gold.
Or even the random fact that they are always eating cake and sweets in the police station. (WTF?!)

Do I need to get into the technicals? I am a film major, don't fuck with me, lol.

Correction: This movie is not worth your time if you just don't get it.

If you do get it and are able to comprehend it, it is fantastic.

It's just like a fourth grader saying, "Calculus isn't worth your time." Of course it isn't, to a fourth grader. He wouldn't get anything out of it. But it could prove very useful to a high school senior or a college student.

Indeed, I forgot that there may be some youngsters here. If so, you have to be a certain age before it is cool enough to sneak into movies, and if your parents let you see an R-rated movie when you are under, say 15, then you have issues...

The one thing that can be said about most British comedy in general is that it's a bit too high-brow for most Americans, like when Nick Angel told that god-awful actor, "Drive safe," having pulled him over for speeding that very day. It's funny, but not the kind of OLOLOL people get from fart jokes and genitalia seen in movies like Jackass.

Well, let's just go ahead and just jump to really broad conclusions about how stupid Americans are... :P

Dude, the sad thing is that I'm probably not wrong in making this sweeping generalization. D; But to clarify what I meant by saying it's too high-brow, I meant that it's too high-brow to suit the tastes of many Americans--not that they wouldn't understand it.

I always OLOLOLOL when I see abnormally-high brows, and I consider myself an average American. I don't know what the fuck you're on about.

Well, the average education level for an American is some college, but no degrees. Thus, I would consider myself somewhat ahead of the curve considering that I am going to graduate in 3 years (next year) and then most likely go on to graduate school (not before I do the JET program and go teach English in Japan ^_^) yay!

Eventually, most people are going to have at least a Bachelor's degree. However, I think you're going to be safely ahead of the curve with a post-graduate degree.
