I finished Monster today, and I have to admit that the last 15 episodes or so, in hindsight, were totally underwhelming. The show could easily have been twenty or even thirty episodes shorter. While early on I liked all of its tangents and bit-characters, by the end of the series I no longer cared about all of the newly-introduced side-plots and their respective characters, and before long my disinterest seemingly trickled into the goings-on of the main plot as well.

There are a lot of things to like about the show, and for those I might still be willing to recommend it. Having seen all 74 episodes and knowing just how bland and drawn-out the series' final episodes are however, makes me wonder if it's worth the journey.

Actually, yeah. That's a pretty good comparison.

I liked the conclusion of Monster, but I also felt it was way too drawn out. I dropped it on my first attempt, and mustered my way through the second time. The "final battle" episodes were pretty damn entertaining, but yeah.

The anime was really good, but the manga was far better.

Been watching Read or Die (R.O.D.) lately. It's pretty interesting and has a really nice soundtrack.

Watched Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo in its entirety over the weekend. I'd seen a few episodes in the past, but the show hadn't really caught my attention. It was streaming on Netflix though, and I decided to give it another spin. It was really good.

Gawd, it's such a pain in the ass to watch animu now with Megavideo down.

(I never liked Megavideo anyway. I preferred Veoh, but there's a lack of mirrors on it...so sometimes Megavideo was the only option )

Just watched Freedom. It's a short sci-fi series, about a colony on the moon that isn't quite what it seems. Ending was a little cheesy, but it was decent overall.

I found out afterward it was made as a promotion for Nissin Cup Noodles, strangely enough. I would have guessed they were at least a sponsor, given the large amount of product placement, but it wasn't like the show revolved around noodles or something.

Also, it was interesting to watch something that takes place (pseudo spoiler, but it's pretty obvious that it's coming when you watch) partly in the US, at places I've been.

Just finished rewatching Outlaw Star last week. Fiancee hadn't seen it yet, so I decided to fix that.

Indeed. I rewatched it a few years back. Never could understand why he didn't wish to pay Henry back for his debt.

Watched a buttload of DBZ the other day. I much prefer the Japanese cast to Funimation's.
