Post subject:  ROORERAI (AT LAST! THANK YOU KURU!)

I feel like an introduction to this is necessary. I've been trying to romanize, and hope to eventually translate all of the pillows's songs to make them accessible to everyone. At last, the final song from their old time has been made available, thanks to kuru. I'll translate this very soon.

Also, this song is hella underloved guys. Give it a chance, I actually really like it.

Here's a stab at a translation. I'm sure there's some mistakes, some of these phrases were kind of tricky. Terra/kuru/Joeyuse?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

It was like I was being invited. When I naturally went,
the stream I saw had slowly changed unnoticed,
drawing me in...

If I remember, somehow that sweet time is there,
floating on a river of tears, becoming cold
almost to the point of stopping my breath.

Almost sad, it was wonderful.
Next to the Rhine, our eyes met.
Do you remember?

Tell me, Loreley;
with a singing voice that seems to dissolve,
submerge me once more,
Loreley.

It may be an illusion, but
I want to see you. I made a boat in the sand
to go towards you.

Tell me, Loreley;
with a singing voice that seems to dissolve, submerge me.
Answer me, Loreley;
I don't want to believe that this is just my misunderstanding.
Please, Loreley...

Please tell me, Loreley,
you really did sing for my sake.
Loreley...

-----------------------------------------

the part I'm most unsure of is how to phrase "toketeyuku you na utagoe de," which I put as "with a singing voice that seems to dissolve." :/
also, I put "me to me ga atta" as "our eyes met," though I'm not sure that's correct.

doing a search of the japanese wikipedia for "ローレライ," I got a return that mentioned germany's "ライン川," or "Rhine river." :D

further searching brought me to "ローレライ伝説," or the legend of Loreley:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loreley

Sawao is a fucking scholar.

I do not have the English skill that can be adequately pointed out.

However, I think that it is wrong of this part.
"When I remembered, for some reason I floated in a river of tears.
That sweet time is there. It seemed as though I was about to stop breathing,
and I was becoming cold. "
It's not I was becoming cold.
Sweet time floats on the river of tears, and becomes cold.

If only we could combine kuru's understanding of Japanese with Marekenshin's understanding of English. We'd have Marekurushin, the ultimate translator.

Gotcha. So is it the river that was becoming cold, or the sweet time?

It became near the correct answer . I think it is good in this translation.

It's not I went slowly.
The stream was slowly.

Good :)

Other parts do not seem to have a problem.

Except for the awkward English phrasing. Not a complaint - just advice to aid Mare on his path to becoming a translation God.
