Smile is for whatever reason one of my favorite albums and I've noticed it has the least translations. I would be the best friend of anyone with a translation to a song like "Good Morning Good News." |

I gave it my best and then sent it to terra, who checked my work and informed me in very kind terms that my best is not yet ready for primetime. I'm revising what I did have very heavily. It'll be up...uh, sometime. I love Smile though, so I might take a shot at some of the other songs that haven't been given the translation treatment yet, now that hi-res scans are up. |

I think I'll take a stab at this one...but I may also fail hard 
I have high-res scans of smile thanks to bushi, so.... Difficult songs make me fail...I was lucky that most of White Incarnation was relatively easy lol. |

Well, I got the first 1/3 done last night... I work a lot lately, so I'll be hard pressed for time to do anything more on it until the weekend, cause i have thurs-sunday off (wisdom teeth coming out ) edit: finished it this morning. UNFORTUNATELY: the computer I'm at is a bastard that won't read my flash drive, so hopefully I'll be able to post it this evening on my break from work...maybe. there's just two lines that have confused/pissed me off... the last two lines in the stanza that says: boku wa kitzuita nda zetsubou no kurayami ja hari no ana no kibou ga taiyou ni mieru I put: "I've noticed it. The darkness of this despair is hope in the eye of a needle, visible to the sun" but i'm quite sure that the last two lines are off. I'm thinking it's some idiomatic/cultural thing I'm not getting or it's just really hard to translate. |

'ja' means 'even' here. not totally sure, but the phrases either split up like this: [i]boku wa kitzuita nda, zetsubou no kurayami ja [/i] [i]hari no ana no kibou ga taiyou ni mieru [/i] or this... [i]boku wa kitzuita nda [/i] [i]zetsubou no kurayami ja hari no ana no kibou ga taiyou ni mieru [/i] there's a tiny amount of fudging to get the latter to work in translation, but it sounds more poetic than the former. ;D |
