Post subject: | i can hear jingle bells |
okay, here's what i have so far. i'd like some help, as the parts with * by them are ones that are a bit confusing to me, especially the one about scrooge, i think i'm way off on that part. pm me if you want to help me out with this. thanks. ----------------------- I can hear jingle bells For some reason, tonight both Dad and Mom are being nicer than the usually are. Light a candle, turn out the light, hurry up and cut the cake, please. Since I was little, I've always counted down (on my fingers),*(指折り数えて) excited while waiting for this day to come. The big fir tree in the park looks like a toy rocket. Jingle bells This night is special. Jinble bells You too should stand up.*(君にもうたってあげるよ) I'm familiar with the way home;(見なれている 帰り道さえ) it's like a postcard from a foreign country, isnt' it. All the lovers are dressed nicely. To this unending night I melt away.*(終らない夜へ とけてゆくよ) In the bed of my lonely room, I thought it'd be alright if this kind of day didn't come. If I turn on the radio switch,*(なのにラジオのスイッチ入れたら) I would hear the sound come, even to one such as I.*(そんな僕にも 聞こえてきたんだ) Jingle bells This night is special. Jinble bells You too should stand up.*(君にもうたってあげるよ) *If even Scrooge from "A Christmas Carol"(クリスマス キャロルのスウルージだって) *stopped being so uncaring, it wasn't until that.(しらけてしまえば それまでだったさ) *The spirits たずねて来なくたって I remember, those wonderful words! Jingle bells Tonight is special. Jingle bells Look! If you clear your ears.*(耳をすませば ホラ) Jingle bells You can hear the sound of the bells. Jingle bells Smile.*(笑ってよ) Because tonight is Merry Christmas! |

君にもうたってあげるよ => on the sheet it's 'mou'... tatte could be 'stand', 'depart'... hard to say. 見なれている 帰り道さえ = even the familiar road home. sae = even そんな僕にも 聞こえてきたんだ = even i can hear it. the japanese phrasing is rather awkard translated directly. 精霊達はたずねて来なくたって => tazuneru = most likely 'to visit', in this case. something about the spirits not coming to visit. i'll look at it more later... |

woops! i meant to put "mou"...sorry! i'll fix that. maybe it means "you too should come out," like come join in the festivities...or something? on the "since i was little" part, i think "when i was little, i counted down on my fingers," would be better. and i'm assuming that the big tree looks like a toy rocket because it's all lit up... "even though i'm familiar with the way home, it's like a postcard from a foreign country" works better (thanks terra!). I kind of like the more direct "even to one such as I" because i think he's talking about how he lost his love of christmas for a while or something. the scrooge verse seems to me to be something alon the lines of: just as Scrooge from "A Christmas Carol," I stopped being so uncaring, but the spirits never came to visit me." of course, that's not quite what it is, as i can't figure out the それまでだったさ part... and i want to change the "smile" at the end to "go on and laugh" or "go on and smile." |

You need a keyboard with kanjis and hiraganas. It's the size of a billboard and it's how everyone types in japan. プラト、”は”です、”わ”じゃない。 |

;-___- leave carnval alone. you can either install/configure an IME in windows that allows you to type directly wherever you want, or you can cut and paste from JWPce. |
