10 - Century Creepers

It's quiet and there's nothing here
Only the sound of my own footsteps echo
There's not even any scenery

I'm used to this darkness,
but someday I want to try to find my way out
It'd be nice if I could smile; it's strange
I can feel this light I can't see
with all of my self and soul

It was here as if it had sprouted
a spirit that blossomed without knowing rain
the story of a century

Feeling like somebody's waiting,
I continue searching
The end is surely just a little further,
but it's not now. Though my breathing is ragged,
I have a reason to keep going

I'm hiding in the darkness,
but someday I want to meet you
I may not have eyesight, but I'll surely find you
I'll sniff out that similar pain
with all my self and soul

11 - Sweet Baggy Days

I bought a town that nobody comes to
and am living with a cat I met
I want to plug in the single amp I have
and play Salon Music

I told lies to the humans I was close to
and my throat is dry
I chewed on only the shell of love
and laughed as if I'm crying

sweet baggy days
sweet baggy days

I don't dream, the sun doesn't rise
the moon doesn't come out either, only the stars flow
Are you pretending to be sad? you ask
I'm not facing it, like an animal

sweet baggy days
sweet baggy days

I remember nobody but you
and affect a human right about to die

sweet baggy days
sweet baggy days

------------------------------------------

sorry if this one is a little below standards on translating, i feel like there's some things i'm not quite grasping on this one.

anyway, that's finished, enjoy!

Okay, okay, I'm finally gonna add these to the site so I started looking through...

I'm just starting from the beginning.

1: Wake up! dodo

'夢中で' doesn't mean in a dream... it means 'like mad'/'frantically'.

http://dictionary.goo.ne.jp/search.php? ... kwassist=0

For this you've got:

予言通り終わりが来たって
行儀良くなんて眠れない

Even if the end were to come as predicted,
I want to call out that I'm not done playing.

It looks like you just missed the second line and used a line from later in the song.

2: YOUNGSTER (Kent Arrow)

I'll just paste the whole thing and highlight what I changed since there were several things. Some of it was just in the wrong tense. This should sound a bit more natural.

Set you free, where should we go?
A prelude to recovery from the brink of doom.
Let you go, I can't stop.
I'm climbing the wall.
Say good bye, a sweet dream.
Fling off the whisper.
Boy meets rock, I've exceeded
Who I was yesterday.

Maybe somebody is waiting for you;
go out and meet the dawn
(the dawn is breaking)
That makes everything worthwhile; Wake up!

Set you free, when you look back
Memories are still the same
Let you go, the only thing you can change
is the future.

The pages turn in the blowing wind;
The rusty shackles
(the drag is breaking)
Will be blown away too

Set you free, when you look back
Memories are still the same
Let you go, the only thing you can change
is the future.
Only the future.
I'll keep walking the green spring as far as I can,
because the path keeps going.
'夢中で' doesn't mean in a dream... it means 'like mad'/'frantically'.
It has both the meanings of literally within a dream and of doing something frantically, I just sorta chose the within a dream because of the within the brightness of space I guess, though it looks like frantically is the most common usage.

wtf, looks like I totally spaced out there. That line's really tricky, I can't remember what the hell I put there originally. I think it's something like "I can't just behave and sleep" as in he's resisting the ending.

I totally agree with the corrections on YOUNGSTER. I can't believe I made some of those mistakes looking at it right now, haha. I really did learn a lot at that summer program, lol. I'm sure PROPOSE is going to be absolutely dripping with mistakes, haha. After Scarecrow are the ones I did after the summer program was over, so maybe they'll be higher quality. XD

3: PROPOSE

Oh boy, a nonsense song... :?

"What sort of way do you harmonize with?" => I've never seen 'utsuru' used as 'harmonize' (I know that's what edict has as one of the meanings but...) 'Utsuru' is one of those words that's not translatable literally half the time. I think it's more like 'How do I seem to you'. See the third example:

http://dictionary.goo.ne.jp/search.php? ... se=1&row=0

いい加減 嫌われてもいい頃だ => You missed the 'いい加減'. For the second part, see examples here of '-temo ii koro':

http://eow.alc.co.jp/%e3%81%84%e3%81%84 ... -8/?ref=wl

常識を追い越して=> the meaning of passing here is more like 'go beyond' or 'get ahead of' (like passing a car) not 'giving up'.

Ugh, some more rather stupid mistakes. So you're quite right on that first thing with "how do I seem to you?"

I guess the second thing (いい加減 嫌われてもいいころだ) should be:
"There's a good chance it should be hated"?

Also wtf passing up. Ugh.

Fixed them. Thanks! :)

Ugh. My old translations are all crap. Every single one. Hopefully over the course of time I can make up for this.

Heh. I'm sure a lot of my old stuff is awful too.

The more you learn, the more you realize how much more you have to learn. :dead:

Post Re: Wake Up! Wake Up! Wake Up! TRANSLATIONS
It's funny because even though my Japanese is really rusty now, some of the phrases and ideas that I just brute-forced via dictionary are now retardedly apparent to me as to what they should be instead when I look back. Progress, lol. Someday, I need to go and revise all these translations; I guess I'm going to need to use the lyrics for my thesis-writing anyway, so I'll try and touch up old translations when I need to reference songs, and maybe the momentum of working on that will get me back into the habit. I ended up translating a few Supercar songs rather quickly the other day at a friend's request, so I think I can and should get back into this to keep my brain active, lol.

On a completely unrelated topic, could i find those translations anywhere? Or maybe you could post them\send them to me? Supercar translations are kinda rare, i'd appreciate it.
